‘Ride 4 Ivy’ plans to help family and child born with spina bifida

BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) – “Ride 4 Ivy” debuted today at Cole Harley Davidson in Bluefield, West Virginia. Motorcycle and car drivers came together to raise funds for Robert and Brittney Gaines’ son, Ivy, born with spina bifida.

Right now, Ivy is at a children’s hospital in Philadelphia where Robert and Brittney have moved to be with their son. With the move came huge financial burdens on the family. This hike is a fundraiser to help cover medical and living expenses for the family.

Registration for the event began at 10 a.m. this morning. Each bike or car cost twenty-five dollars per entry, with all profits going to the family. At 11:30 am, the group then proceeded to Tazewell and rode on the dragon’s back. The ride then returned to Cole Harley Davidson where lunch was served to participants.

“We will descend to Tazewell where we will hit the dragon’s back, route 61 and then back to the bland. Then we will come back to the mountain of the East River where we will have the photographers take photos and cross it. we will end here with lunch, ”said organizer David Orander.

Participants also had the opportunity to win door prizes after the ride, which includes televisions and tools.

A Venmo was also set up for the Gaines family. If you would like to donate to him, you can find him by searching @FourIvyGaines on Venmo.
