WILLISTON — A Williston man has died from injuries received when his motorcycle hit a pickup truck north of Williston on Monday. He was the fourth person from North Dakota to die in crashes in the state over Memorial Day weekend.
North Dakota Highway Patrol identified the driver of the motorcycle as 24-year-old Brandon Burkemo.
According to the patrol, Burkemo, driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was heading east on Williams County Road 6 towards the Love’s Travel Center intersection, north of Williston. A 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Earl Ray, 63, Stanley, was facing north and turning left onto County Road 6 from the Travel Center. The motorcycle crashed into the back of the van. The accident happened at 10:35 a.m.
Burkemo was transported to CHI-St. Alexius Hospital, Williston, where he was pronounced dead. Ray was unhurt. The accident is still under investigation by the ND Highway Patrol.
Three other bikers died in the state on Saturday.
Brandon Cermak, 35, Fargo, died when he hit a sprayer on Highway 31 near Raleigh in Grant County as the sprayer was turning left.
Corey Volesky, 45, and Amber Krause Volesky, 40, both of Wyndmere, died when a pickup truck hit their motorcycle in the rear as they slowed to exit the freeway on a county road in Richland County.
