Fortier âEveryone has had a difficult year and we want to make it better. “
Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade has been a tradition in Chicago for forty-three years and the non-profit organization plans to return this year with the 44th Motorcycle Parade.
Last year, thousands of bikers joined the group with toys strapped to their bikes to take part in the âWorld’s Biggest Paradeâ and donate to those in need.
Last year, The Chicagoland Toys for Tots continued to collect thousands of toys for children in need in Chicago and surrounding suburbs without a parade due to Covid restrictions.
âWith everything going on in the world, everyone has had a difficult year, and we want to improve it,â said George Lester Fortier, President of Chicagoland Toys for Tots.
âNow that the Parade is back, we hope to help more families than before, because we know there are more and more needs. “
The Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade will take place on Sunday, December 5 from Dan Ryan Woods, south of 83rd and Western Avenue.
The parade will start from Dan Ryan Woods at 9:30 am and will head north on Western Avenue to Foster & Grand. There will be several breaks in the parade to allow traffic to cross Western Avenue. Parade volunteers posted signs on Western Avenue and sent letters to businesses to inform owners and customers on the parade route.
Each motorcycle participating in the parade must bring a new unwrapped toy to give away at the start or end of the parade. There are also Chicagoland Toys for Tots drop boxes located all around Chicagoland and even Indiana.
Toys can be donated at any of the hundreds of toy box locations, including all of the Chicago Fire Departments. New unopened toys for ages 0-12, as well as items for ages 12-15. Toys should not be wrapped. No stuffed animals.
A list of these Drop Box locations can be found on the Chicagoland Toys for Tots website www.chciagolandtft.org. Finally, toys can be dropped off at the organization’s warehouse located at 8900 Odell, Bridgeview, Illinois, on Sunday, December 6 and throughout December by calling a Toys for Tots board member. .
