POLOKWANE – They see it riding and other bikers might hate it, as Wilford ‘Buzas’ Mabuza is the first person in the province to own the 2021 Harley Davidson 1250 Pan American Special.
The Pan American Special is a two-wheeled multi-tool designed to endure and explore adventure.
Buzas, the general secretary of Unicorn Riders, joined the bike industry in 2019.
His first motorcycle was a Harley Davidson 1.2 sport and after gaining enough riding experience he bought himself a new Suzuki 1.8 Boulevard.
Unicorn Riders bikers often go on trips and therefore Buzas wanted to get a touring bike.
He said the Pan American Special comes with special features like traction control, adaptive headlights, height-adjustable seats, long xenon headlights and a GPS tracker.
âI was introduced to the cycling industry by the president of Unicorn Riders MCC, Abraham ‘Master P’ Poto.
âHe asked me which bike I wanted to ride and I told him about the BMW GS. The height of the bike was a problem as my legs couldn’t touch the pedals. The Pan American Special, however, has been designed in such a way that it can accommodate all riders of different heights.
âWhen I read the specs of the bike, I realized I had what I wanted from the start,â said Buzas.
He said what he liked the most about the bike were the different riding modes; rain, sport, road and highway more.
âI like the technology of this bike. It has a screen with different displays. Harley Davidson has gone the extra mile to build an adventure bike that is the first of its kind, âhe said.
He told Polokwane Observer that when he bought the bike, it was only 24 km on the clock.
âHe has now reached 270 km. I have only had the bike for two weeks and I have already made several trips, including the longest to Bela-Bela, âhe concluded.
