RANDOLPH – Austin James Dean Shaffer, 23, of Tyler Whitmore Road, Randolph, City of Naples, died suddenly Monday, June 6, 2022 in McKean County, Pennsylvania.
He was born on June 11, 1998 in Warren, Pennsylvania, the son of Harvey L. Shaffer of Warren and Danielle L. Marsh of Randolph.
Austin was a 2016 graduate of Randolph Central School, where he was on the varsity football team, track team, and trap shooting team. A U.S. Army veteran, he served from 2017 to 2020.
He was currently employed by Harley Davidson of Jamestown and previously worked for Gable Belting in Chafee, NY, and Rickrak in Concord, NC. He was an avid hunter and bow hunter, enjoyed fishing, boating and motorcycling. His family was everything to him, as well as his dog, Hank. He was a member of the Southern Tier Riding Club in Conewango, NY
He is survived by his father, Harvey (Jillian Francis) of Warren Pa.; mother, Danielle (Jeff Lockwood) of Randolph; maternal grandfather, James Marsh of Kennedy; paternal grandmother, Judy (Thompson) Shaffer of Warren; siblings: Katerina F. Shaffer of Warren, Pennsylvania, Allie C. Marsh-Durphy and Nicole Lockwood of Randolph and Luke Lockwood of Salt Lake City, Donavyn Francis, Conner Murray and Johanna Murray, all of Jamestown, Kyle Ecker and Kamden Cali , both of Randolph; two nephews: Rheme and Ronnie Haskins; four God Sons: Jace M. and Jaxon C. Barrus of Lillington, NC, and Lucas Allen and Bowe Jaxson Steward of Conewango Valley, NY; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Austin was predeceased by his grandmother, Barbara (Riffel) Marsh and his grandfather, Harvey D. Shaffer.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022, from VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, from where the funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Reverend Molly Golando will officiate. Interment and full military honors will be in Myrtle Cemetery, Clark’s Corners, Kennedy, NY
