When we think of modern motorcycles with a retro look, Royal Enfield may be the first name that comes to mind. This in itself is proof of the popularity of this brand of motorcycles. The RE Classic 350 and Bullet series motorcycles have a large number of fans in India and abroad. Royal Enfield recently launched the all new Classic 350 motorcycle on the market. RE motorcycles did not have direct competition until the Jawa brand returned to the market a few years ago. Just like RE, Jawa has also released modern motorcycles with a retro look and these are also very popular among buyers. These two bikes are not meant for high speed, but if you want to know which of these bikes is the fastest in a drag race, we have a video here.
The video was uploaded by Aayush ssm to their YouTube channel. The video begins with a vlogger presenting the two motorcycles. Vlogger rode the 2021 jawa 42 and his friend the 2021 Classic 350 Signals. Vlogger mentions that they were leading this race on a closed road and that they also got permission from the police.
The race takes place over three rounds to find out which bike is the fastest. During the first two laps, the vlogger was riding the Jawa 42. The two bikes line up and they start to spin the bike. The RE guy signals the start by blowing the horn three times and the race begins. For a few seconds, RE Classic 350 was in the lead by a small margin but, after that, Jawa started to perform well. The bike picked up speed and overtook the Classic 350.
Jawa 42 held the lead throughout the round and won the first round. The Classic 350 pilot said in the video that he expected similar results. They then line up the bikes for the second lap, the rider was riding the Jawa again while his friend was on Classic. The race started and immediately Jawa 42 took the lead without even giving the Classic 350 a chance.
Jawa 42 maintained the lead throughout the race and also won the second round. In the third lap they swap motorcycles and now the rider was on Classic 350. The third lap begins and suddenly the Classic 350 is in the lead. Rider immediately stops to check on his friend and discovers he missed a gear. They start the last lap again and in this lap also Jawa 42 takes the lead and wins the lap. Jawa 42 was announced as the winner of the race.
Vlogger mentions that both bikes pack a good low and midrange punch, but there isn’t much power left at higher speeds. The reason they don’t have a lot of power at higher speeds is that these bikes aren’t built for speed. They are designed for relaxed city trips and long road trips.
Getting back to racing, the 2021 Classic 350 features a revised 350cc engine that generates 20.2 hp and 27 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Jawa 42, on the other hand, has a 300 cc engine that generates 25 hp and 28 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It’s pretty clear why Jawa won. Even after having a smaller engine, Jawa generates more power and is also lighter than Classic 350.
