CHARLES COUNTY, Md. – Two people were killed in separate motorcycle crashes in Charles County, Md., Over the weekend.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office said the first accident happened on Friday in the 15300 block of Woodville Road in Waldorf just before 3:30 p.m.
The sheriff’s office said an officer on leave was the first to arrive at the scene of the crash where he found motorcyclist Brooks Leigh Buckler, 20, of Aquasco, Md., On the roadway. The assistant and firefighters and EMS both attempted to take action to save lives, but Buckler died of his injuries.
A preliminary investigation showed Buckler was driving on Woodville Road when he collided with a pickup truck coming out of a driveway. The driver of the van was not injured and remained at the scene.
The second accident happened on Saturday morning near the intersection of Billingsley Road and Catchpenny Place in Bryans Road, Maryland. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office said MPs and firefighters / EMS responded to the scene and attempted to provide rescue measures for the driver of the motorcycle. however, she did not survive.
A preliminary investigation showed that the motorbike driver, Rose Annette Proctor, 44, of Bryans Road, was traveling eastbound on Billingsley Road in the Catchpenny Place area when she lost control in a curve, crossed the center lines and was struck. by an oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the passenger car was not injured and remained at the scene.
The two accidents are still under investigation according to the sheriff’s office.
